Major Drugs Bust Following M54 Speeding Incident
West Mercia Police have made a substantial arrest after stopping a vehicle observed driving at high speed on the M54 motorway. The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, April 12, led to the discovery of an estimated £290,000 worth of suspected class A drugs, along with significant cash and weapons.
Traffic Stop Uncovers Criminal Activity
Officers on patrol spotted the car travelling at excessive speed on the M54, prompting an immediate intervention. The vehicle was subsequently pulled over on Castle Farm Way in the Priorslee area of Telford. A thorough search of the car revealed wraps of cocaine, two mobile phones, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The 33-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. This initial stop triggered a wider investigation, leading police to conduct a linked search at a property in Dudley.
Further Discoveries in Dudley Property
At the Dudley address, officers uncovered an additional £10,300 in cash, along with the estimated £290,000 worth of suspected class A drugs. The search also yielded a knuckle duster and various bladed articles, classified as offensive weapons.
As a result of these findings, the suspect was further arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Sergeant Andy Pond of West Mercia Police emphasised the significance of the operation. “A significant quantity of class A drugs has been taken off the streets as a result of this stop, and our investigation is very much ongoing,” he stated.
“This arrest shows the value of proactive policing on our road network, where officers are able to identify suspicious behaviour and act quickly. We remain committed to disrupting the supply of harmful drugs in our communities and will continue to pursue those who choose to engage in this type of criminal activity.”
