Man Arrested After Gun Threat in Birmingham Street

A firearms incident in a Birmingham street has led to the arrest of a man, following reports that another man was threatened and struck with a gun. The incident occurred on Short Heath Road in Erdington on Tuesday, April 28.

Police responded swiftly, blocking the road and arresting a 24-year-old suspect shortly after 2:30 pm the same day. Footage shared online shows marked and unmarked police vehicles blocking the street, with armed officers apprehending a man in a grey hoodie and placing him in a marked police car.

Police Investigation

A West Midlands Police spokesperson stated: 'We arrested a 24-year-old man on Short Heath Road on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence at around 3 pm yesterday. It followed an incident earlier in the day, also on Short Heath Road, when another man reported that he had been threatened and hit with a firearm.'

Following further enquiries, the suspect was released and will face no further action. The investigation is ongoing to ensure community safety.
