Police have provided an update on an investigation into an alleged hit-and-run incident in Stirchley, Birmingham. A man arrested in London has been released on bail, while a second suspect remains in custody.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 14, shortly after 10pm, when a van struck a pedestrian on Mayfield Road, off Pershore Road. The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained leg injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Arrests and Bail
A 44-year-old man was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in London on Saturday morning (May 16) on suspicion of wounding. He was questioned and later released on police bail with strict conditions as the investigation continues.
A second man, aged 52, was arrested in Birmingham on Saturday evening, also on suspicion of wounding. He remains in police custody as of Sunday (May 17).
Police Investigation
West Midlands Police confirmed that the van failed to stop at the scene but was recovered on nearby Prince Road and is now being examined. Officers are reviewing CCTV and social media footage to establish the full circumstances.
