Emergency services attended, where sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious by officers and a report has been made for the coroner."

The North East Ambulance Service also provided details of their involvement, dispatching a comprehensive team to the incident. A spokesperson added, "We were called to an incident in Newcastle on Sunday 12 April shortly before 10am. We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader, one specialist paramedic and two HART resources (Hazardous Area Response Team)."
