A man in his 60s is fighting for his life after being stabbed in Stafford. The attack occurred in the Castlefields area on the evening of Thursday, May 14.
Details of the attack
Staffordshire Police reported that the victim was walking from Redgrave Drive towards Stafford Castle when he was approached from behind by an unknown male and assaulted. A member of the public discovered the victim on a bench and alerted emergency services.
The man was rushed to hospital and remains in a critical condition. A large police presence has been established in the area as officers search for the suspect.
Suspect description
The assailant is described as being in his mid to late 20s, of average build, and wearing dark clothing. Police are urging anyone with information, including CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage, to come forward.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: 'We were called at 7pm on Thursday, 14 May, to Newport Road, close to the golf club, following reports of violence. The victim was found on a bench by a member of the public who raised the alarm. Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service, the Midlands Air Ambulance, and the National Police Air Service. The victim was taken to hospital by land ambulance and remains in a critical condition.'
