Police Launch Urgent Appeal Following Violent Attack on Elderly Woman
West Midlands Police have issued a renewed public appeal for information after a 93-year-old woman was subjected to a violent street robbery in Birmingham. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, has left the elderly victim with significant facial injuries and struggling to recall details of the assault.
Details of the Disturbing Assault
The attack took place at approximately 3:20 PM on Friday, March 27. According to police reports, the victim was assaulted and her mobility trolley was stolen during the robbery. The woman, whose identity has been protected, sustained facial injuries in the attack and has experienced difficulty remembering specific details about the assailant or the sequence of events.
Detectives have been conducting extensive enquiries since the incident, including thorough reviews of available CCTV footage from the area. Despite these efforts, investigators have been unable to identify the perpetrator, prompting this renewed appeal to the public.
Description of the Suspect and Stolen Property
Police have released a photograph of the distinctive mobility trolley that was stolen during the robbery, hoping that members of the public might recognize the item or recall seeing it in the aftermath of the attack. The trolley could provide crucial evidence leading to the identification of the attacker.
The suspect is described as a white man of stocky build who was seen riding a Boardman bicycle in the vicinity around the time of the robbery. Witnesses reported spotting the bicycle in the Stratford Road and Park Gate areas shortly after the incident occurred.
Additionally, a man matching this description was observed carrying the stolen mobility trolley over his shoulder in the direction of Green Hill Way following the attack.
Police Appeal for Public Assistance
Investigators are particularly interested in any dash cam footage or additional CCTV recordings that might have captured the suspect or the stolen mobility trolley. The police have emphasized that even seemingly insignificant details could prove vital to their investigation.
"We need help identifying this individual," stated a police spokesperson. "Anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, is urged to come forward. Your assistance could be crucial in bringing the perpetrator to justice."
