A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a man riding an e-scooter in Redditch. The victim, aged 41, was attacked in an underpass between Longdon Close and Martley Close near the Woodrow Centre at approximately 8:30 AM on Tuesday, April 28.
Police received a call shortly after 8:35 AM and discovered the victim with a stab wound to his chest. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and medical staff at the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation and Arrest
Detectives from West Mercia Police's Major Investigations Unit have been conducting extensive enquiries since the incident. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher stated: 'We do not underestimate the concern this incident will cause within the community. We are grateful for the support following our appeal for information. Our condolences remain with the family of the man who tragically lost his life.'
Community Reassurance
Police have assured the public that officers will remain in the local area to offer reassurance and engage with residents. 'Enquiries into his death will continue,' DCI Lougher added.
The underpass, which connects residential areas to the Woodrow Centre, has been cordoned off as forensic teams examine the scene. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
