Two men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man was run over in Birmingham. The Metropolitan Police detained the suspects at Euston Station as they arrived for the Unite the Kingdom protest in central London on Saturday, May 16.
Incident in Stirchley
A man in his 30s suffered serious leg injuries after being struck by a van on Mayfield Road in Stirchley on Thursday evening, May 14. The van failed to stop at the scene but was later recovered on nearby Prince Road, where it is being examined by police.
Arrests at Euston Station
The Met Police stated: “Officers have made two arrests in the vicinity of Euston station. Two men, wanted on suspicion of GBH following an incident in Birmingham where a man was run over, were spotted arriving into London to attend the UTK protest.”
Investigation Ongoing
West Midlands Police said on Friday: “We're investigating after a collision involving a van and a pedestrian in Stirchley on Thursday night. The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered leg injuries in the collision on Mayfield Road and remains in hospital. The van failed to stop at the scene but was recovered on nearby Prince Road and is now being examined. We are viewing CCTV and social media footage as we work to identify the full circumstances of what happened.”
