A motorcyclist has sustained life-changing injuries following a collision with a car in Wolverhampton. The incident occurred at the junction of Wednesfield Road and Deans Road in Health Town, northeast of the city centre, shortly before 11am on Sunday.
Police and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene at 10:50am and found the rider with serious, potentially life-changing injuries. The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers.
Road Closures and Diversions
Traffic information service Inrix reported that the A4124 Wolverhampton Road is closed in both directions from New Cross Avenue to Grove Street, causing slow traffic. Additional closed roads include Deans Road, Grove Street, Tudor Road, and Church Street. Diversions are in place, affecting bus routes 59, 9, and 69.
Police Statement
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are currently at the scene of a collision involving a motorbike and car at the junction of Wednesfield Road and Deans Road in Wolverhampton. Officers were called at 10:50am, and the rider was treated by ambulance colleagues before being taken to hospital with injuries believed to be life-changing. The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries. Roads in the area have been closed as investigations continue. Drivers are advised to avoid Wednesfield Road, Deans Road, and Tudor Road and to find alternative routes for the next few hours."
Motorists are urged to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time while emergency services and investigators remain at the scene.
