A popular baby highchair is being urgently recalled across the UK due to a dangerous fault that poses a significant falling hazard. Certain batches of the item were found to present a risk of injury, which could include the child falling from a height.
The affected product is the Bababing UNA Highchair. Bababing explained: 'We have identified an issue whereby the 4 x screws holding the seat unit to the base module may become loose, resulting in the seat potentially disassembling from the base module.'
The issue does not apply to all highchairs based on the batch number and product sale date. However, it is important to contact the customer service department on 01535 606871 or email info@bababing.com so that further support can be provided and a repair kit can be supplied if required. The company is currently working with the local authority regarding this safety notice.
The relevant batch number can be located on the seat pad care label under the wording starting with BQ. It is important that all safety instructions that come with the product are followed correctly to ensure your child is safe when using this product.
Bababing added: 'At Bababing we take product safety very seriously in order to ensure your child is 100% safe whilst using our products. On very rare occasions issues can occur with regards to product integrity, and therefore we have strict processes in place to communicate to all our customers should a product recall and/or safety notice be given in order to ensure your product is either recalled or repaired with minimum stress and fuss.'
The Office for Product Safety and Standards warned that the four screws securing the seat unit to the base may become loose, leading to the seat becoming detached. If the seat detaches while in use, the child could fall from a height and receive injuries.
The safety notice applies to Bababing UNA Highchair models with the product code BB186-001 and the batch code BQ00249. Not all chairs in batch BQ00249 are affected. The impacted items were sold from October 26, 2023, and originate from China.
