Tributes for 'precious angels' after fatal Wolverhampton fire

Heartfelt tributes have been left at the scene of a devastating house fire in Wolverhampton that claimed the lives of two young boys, described as 'precious angels'. The children, aged one and three, died after flames engulfed a home on Mason Street on Friday, April 24.

Firefighters rescued the youngsters from the property shortly after 8.30pm, but despite their efforts, the boys were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The area has been cordoned off as investigators work to determine the cause of the blaze.

Mourners have been paying their respects, leaving flowers, soft toys, and heartfelt messages. One note read: 'RIP little ones. May you have the highest place in heaven.' Another tribute said: 'Precious angels taken too soon. Beautiful stars shining bright for all to cherish.' A Peter Rabbit soft toy was accompanied by a message: 'To babies too sweet for Earth.'

Warinder Juss, MP for Wolverhampton West, expressed his condolences, stating: 'Such a tragic loss of young lives - my deepest condolences.'

Arrest and investigation

West Midlands Police arrested a woman in her 30s on Saturday, April 25, on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children. She was released on police bail on Sunday, April 26, as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake, from the public protection unit, said: 'This is a truly tragic incident and our thoughts remain very much with those who loved the children who have been lost. We understand the shock and distress this awful incident will have caused to many people and we are working at pace to ascertain exactly what has happened.'

She urged the public not to speculate and asked anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting log 5640 of 24 April.
