Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson has shared a heartbreaking health update concerning her eight-month-old twin daughters, revealing they have been diagnosed with a rare and incurable condition.
A Difficult Diagnosis After a High-Risk Pregnancy
On Sunday, 4th January 2026, Jesy took to social media to inform followers about her daughters' condition. The twins, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, were born in May 2025 to Jesy and her fiancé, Zion Foster, following a high-risk pregnancy.
Although the babies arrived prematurely, they were initially described as "healthy and fighting strong." However, after four months of extensive medical investigations and hospital appointments, the couple received the devastating news that their daughters have Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA Type 1).
Jesy explained that the rare muscle disease means her twin girls will likely never walk. She used her platform to raise awareness for other parents, urging them to learn the signs of the condition.
An Outpouring of Support from Past and Present
Jesy's emotional post was quickly flooded with messages of love and solidarity from fans and friends. Among the most notable well-wishers were her ex-boyfriend, Chris Hughes, and his current girlfriend, performer JoJo Siwa.
Chris Hughes, who was in a relationship with Jesy from 2019 to 2020, commented on her post with words of encouragement. He wrote, "A warrior Jess. Be easy on yourself. Sending prayers to you all, everyone behind you guys ?"
His partner, 22-year-old JoJo Siwa, also left a supportive message, saying, "Sending lots of love and prayers❤️❤️."
Fans praised Chris for his kind gesture, with one noting it "shows what a lovely person you are" to take the time to send support.
Maintaining Friendship After Romance
The supportive exchange highlights the amicable relationship Jesy and Chris have maintained since their split during the 2020 lockdown. A source close to the pair at the time said their breakup was mutual and that they remained "really good friends."
This friendship was evident earlier when Chris publicly congratulated Jesy on her pregnancy announcement with Zion Foster, commenting "Go on girl."
Jesy, who has been with Zion since 2022, got engaged to him in September 2025. The couple briefly separated in 2024 before reconciling. Their focus is now entirely on navigating their daughters' SMA Type 1 diagnosis and raising awareness for the condition.
