UK Snow Alert: Full List of Areas Affected from Tuesday

The Met Office has issued a detailed weather forecast indicating that several regions across the United Kingdom are set to experience snow from Tuesday night onwards. This comes as part of an unsettled weather pattern that will bring widespread rain and chilly conditions to many areas.

Weather Outlook for Tuesday and Beyond

According to the latest Met Office update, Tuesday, February 10, will begin with a cloudy start for much of the country, accompanied by outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Forecasters predict that a spell of heavy, showery rain will move into southern regions throughout the day, interspersed with brighter spells at times. Meanwhile, northern areas can expect continued outbreaks of rain, maintaining damp and grey conditions.

Snow Forecast and Affected Areas

In its five-day forecast, the Met Office has specifically earmarked certain areas for flurries of wintry showers on Tuesday evening. While it will remain cloudy overnight with fresh deluges of rain, temperatures will vary significantly across the UK. The south is expected to stay mild, but the north will turn chilly, with snow particularly anticipated over the Scottish hills.

Netweather TV meteorologist Jo Farrow provided additional insights, noting that the rain pattern is returning to a soggy norm. She highlighted that northern Britain will face a damp, grey start on Tuesday morning, with another band of rain moving in from the southwest as a slow-moving low-pressure system edges across the country. Eastern and northeast Scotland will experience dreich conditions due to an onshore flow from the southeast.

Extended Forecast and Warnings

The outlook for Wednesday suggests that largely cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain will persist for most regions. It will be fairly windy and cold in the north, while the south will see lighter winds and milder temperatures. Looking ahead to Thursday through Saturday, the weather remains unsettled initially, with further outbreaks of rain expected.

A significant change is forecast from Friday, as temperatures drop and colder air moves in, bringing a chance of snow showers, particularly in northern areas. By Saturday, many parts of the UK can expect dry, cold, and sunny conditions, offering a brief respite from the wet weather.

Ms Farrow also mentioned yellow rain warnings in place for eastern Scotland through Tuesday and Wednesday, indicating a very low likelihood of medium impacts. She added that a new frontal band will move over southwest England and Wales, reaching Northern Ireland to the Isle of Wight by mid-afternoon on Tuesday. Despite some breaks in the cloud that could cause temperature spikes, the day will end with plenty of cloudy, damp weather across the nation.
