Yellow Bloom Community Announces First Local Meetup in St Mellons
The Yellow Bloom Community has officially secured a venue for its very first local meetup, marking a significant step in building a supportive network for women facing health challenges. The event will take place at The Hive in St Mellons on Thursday, April 17, running from 9:30am until 12pm. This morning session is designed to be a relaxed and welcoming gathering, focusing on providing connection and support for anyone living with endometriosis, chronic illness, or mental health issues.
Creating a Safe and Empowering Space
The mission of Yellow Bloom is to create a safe space where women can share their experiences and support one another through life's hurdles. Organiser Ceris Barry envisions a community where nobody feels alone and every woman feels empowered and heard. "It’s something really personal to me, and I’m trying to build a supportive space where no one feels alone," she said. The group is built on core values of compassion, inclusivity, and respect for everyone's privacy and personal story.
What to Expect at the Meetup
Attendees can look forward to a morning of tea, coffee, and friendly chats in a judgement-free environment. There will also be a dedicated support space and optional wellbeing activities, such as arts and crafts. Before finalising the details, the organisers are eager to hear from local residents about what they would enjoy most on the day, ensuring the event meets community needs.
Understanding Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb grow in other parts of the body, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, and bowels. According to the NHS, it can have a big impact on life, with symptoms including severe period pain, heavy periods, pain when going to the toilet, lower tummy and back pain, pain during or after sex, extreme tiredness, difficulty getting pregnant, and low mood or anxiety. However, treatments are available to help manage the condition.
Community Involvement and Support
Members of the community are encouraged to help by volunteering for events or donating craft materials for activities. The initiative has already launched a GoFundMe page to support the cost of refreshments and community activities. By spreading the word to friends and local businesses, residents can help this new support network grow. The organisers hope that shared experiences will foster resilience and build lasting meaningful connections in the area.
Anyone interested in attending or providing feedback can find more details by searching for the group on Facebook. This first meetup represents a crucial effort to remind everyone that they are not alone in their struggles.
