Major Airlines Provide Travel Updates Amid Middle East Conflict

Major airlines including TUI, British Airways, and Emirates have issued travel updates regarding potential flight or holiday disruptions amidst the continuing Middle East conflict. Over recent weeks, there has been substantial travel disruption, with numerous flights cancelled from the UK to Middle Eastern destinations, following the US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

Foreign Office Travel Advisory

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised "against all but essential travel to the United Arab Emirates", which remains in effect as of March 25. Airlines have continued to inform customers about any flight alterations, with many running a reduced flight schedule until further notice.

On their travel alerts section of their website, TUI stated: "Due to airspace restrictions in parts of the region, flights to and from the UK have been impacted and will experience delays or cancellations. If you are due to travel to, or transit through, the UAE or Qatar on or before April 7, our pre-travel team will contact you ahead of your departure date to discuss your options."

The holiday operator emphasized: "We'd like to reassure customers that their safety and well-being remain our highest priority. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East, as well as the latest guidance issued by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)."

British Airways Schedule Adjustments

The UK carrier has likewise been significantly affected by the continuing Middle East conflict and is running a reduced flight programme. The airline has also introduced extra services between London and Singapore and between London and Bangkok during the disruption.

In their most recent customer update, British Airways stated: "Following disruption due to events in the Middle East, we've added additional flights to and from London and Singapore, London and Bangkok and London and the Maldives throughout the rest of March and April to further support customers."

The airline added: "Due to the continuing uncertainty of the situation in the Middle East and airspace instability, and to provide more clarity to our customers, we've extended the temporary reduction in our flying schedule in the region. We're keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options."

Emirates Limited Operations

Emirates, which operates flights to various Middle Eastern destinations, including the UAE, Jordan, Oman, and Dubai, has stated it is running "limited operations due to the regional situation". Emirates announced that the reduced flight schedule will continue "until further notice".

In their most recent update to customers on 18 March, which remains in effect today, Emirates stated: "Following the partial reopening of regional airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule. You can check our latest flight schedules for upcoming flights and book seats to travel. We continue to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly."
