The M5 has fully reopened following a serious overnight crash that left a woman seriously injured. The collision occurred at approximately 2:20am on Monday, June 29, when a car struck the central reservation on the southbound carriageway between Junction 1 (West Bromwich) and Junction 2 (Oldbury).

West Midlands Police confirmed that the southbound carriageway was closed while lane three was also shut on the northbound side. In a statement, the force said: "The M5 southbound is closed between J1 and J2, while lane three is closed northbound, after a car hit the central reservation at around 2.20am today. A woman has been seriously injured, and closures are likely to be in place for some time."
Reopening and Residual Delays
National Highways announced the motorway had reopened shortly before 6am. A spokesperson stated: "The M5 southbound is now open between J1 West Bromwich and J2 Oldbury following a serious collision." However, drivers were warned to expect 20-minute delays and approximately two miles of congestion on the approach to the scene.
West Midlands Ambulance Service has been approached for further comment on the woman's condition. The incident caused significant disruption during the early morning hours, but all lanes are now clear.
