A fundraiser launched for the family of a teenage boy who tragically died after being struck by a falling tree has raised more than £27,000. Brodan Dubickas, aged 15, died while playing with friends in Holmcroft Park along Holmcroft Road in Stafford on Saturday, May 2.
Emergency services were alerted just after 6:30 pm, with the air ambulance, paramedics, and police attending the scene. Despite their efforts, Brodan was pronounced dead shortly after 7:30 pm.
Fundraiser Launched by Family Friend
In the wake of Brodan's death, family friend Kathryn Lockley initiated a GoFundMe page to support his family. She wrote: "The funds will hopefully give the family some support during this horrible time - whether it is helping towards funeral costs, their home whilst they have time off work together, or however they wish. They're a wonderful family, hard working and polite people. It has deeply saddened the whole community."
Since its launch three days ago, the fundraiser has raised at least £27,669 at the time of writing.
Family Tribute to Brodan
Brodan's family described him as having "kindness and generosity that were unmatched" and said he "lit up a room with his humour and his smile." He was the eldest of four siblings, a role he embraced with great pride. Brodan was a competitive pool player and an avid footballer, representing Stafford Falcons and refereeing on weekends.
In a tribute issued through Staffordshire Police, his family stated: "As parents, our lives have been shattered and will never be the same. The pain is unbearable, and the hole that has been left can never be filled. His massive potential will now never be realised, and this is, in itself, a tragedy. We have been overwhelmed by the support, generosity, and love sent from far and wide. The tributes have been vast and incredibly touching. This is a credit to our son, and it goes to show the impact Brodan was able to have on those around him in his short life. For which, we can only say thank you. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. With love, Dad, Mum, Corey, Kayla, and Amelia."
Community Messages of Support
Heartfelt messages from community members have been left on the fundraising page. Joanne Mantle wrote: "Sending love and condolences to Brodan's family. Can't imagine the pain you are feeling. RIP gorgeous boy." Stafford Falcons U15 expressed: "Sending all the family our deepest condolences. All of Stafford Falcons U15." AFC Gnosall said: "Sending our deepest sympathies, from AFC Gnosall." Stafford Rangers Pirates U10 added: "With love from Stafford Ranger Pirates U10's parents." Dereck Taylor commented: "RIP young man - so sad."
The fundraiser continues to grow, reflecting the community's profound grief and desire to support the Dubickas family during this devastating time.
