West Midlands Police have confirmed they are no longer treating the death of a man at a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) in Birmingham as suspicious.
Emergency response on Walsall Road
Officers and ambulance crews were called to an address off Walsall Road in Perry Barr at just after 6.30 am on December 3. They discovered a man who was in cardiac arrest.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man, who was in his 40s, could not be saved. He was declared dead at the scene.
From murder inquiry to coroner's report
Initially, the force treated the death as unexplained. As part of their early enquiries, three people were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Following a detailed investigation, police have now stated they are satisfied that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
In an official update, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Following enquiries, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been prepared for the coroner."
Property identified as HMO
Local reports have identified the property where the man was found as a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO). These are residential properties where common areas are shared by several unrelated tenants.
The case will now proceed through the coroner's court, which will establish the formal cause of death.
