Two individuals from Birmingham have been taken into custody as part of a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in a Warwickshire river.

A man and a woman are currently being held by police after the remains of Adam Lucas were recovered from the River Leam in Leamington last week.

Authorities were alerted to the scene at Victoria Park on 15 April after a concerned member of the public reported seeing a man in the water.

Police subsequently confirmed that a murder inquiry had been initiated. A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police stated on Friday (24 April): "We've arrested two people as we continue to investigate a man's death in Leamington."

"We responded after a man was found in the river in Victoria Park last Wednesday. Sadly, the man – Adam Lucas – had died."

"Yesterday, we arrested a 27-year-old man from Birmingham on suspicion of murder and a 23-year-old woman from Birmingham on suspicion of assisting an offender. They remain in custody," reports Coventry Live.

Police are urging anyone who may have information that could help piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident to come forward. The spokesperson continued: "As we work to establish the full circumstances that led to Adam's death, we're encouraging anyone with information who hasn't already come forward to get in touch."

"You can report it online via the link in the comments quoting incident number 68 of 15 April."

Family Tribute

A statement issued by Adam's family last week reads: "We're all shocked and heartbroken to hear the sad news of the sudden passing of our beloved Adam. He was an amazing and loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. We kindly ask that he is kept in your thoughts and prayers while we try to navigate this as a family."
