Detectives in Birmingham have launched a public appeal for information after a teenage girl was physically assaulted and racially abused in the city centre.
Appeal for Witnesses to Disturbing Assault
The incident occurred on Bridge Street, near the Hyatt Regency hotel, at approximately 4.40pm on Saturday, November 8. The victim, a teenage girl, was both physically attacked and subjected to racist verbal abuse.
Despite conducting multiple enquiries and reviewing available CCTV footage, investigators have so far been unable to identify the person responsible. In a new effort to progress the case, police have now released a grainy CCTV image of a female they are keen to identify and speak to in connection with the attack.
Police Hope Public Can Assist Investigation
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police directly appealed to the public for assistance. "Do you know who this is?" the force asked. "We want to speak with her after a teenage girl was physically assaulted and racially abused."
The spokesperson emphasised that the city centre was busy at the time of the incident, stating: "We know that there were a lot of people in the city centre at the time, so we are hoping that someone may have seen something."
Officers believe that witnesses who were in the area that Saturday afternoon could hold vital information.
How to Contact Police with Information
Anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation. The police have provided two main channels for the public to share what they know:
- Contact West Midlands Police directly via Live Chat on their official website, quoting crime reference number 20/436542/25.
- Alternatively, provide information anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
All information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could prove crucial in identifying the individual involved and bringing them to justice.
