Incident Details

Tamworth Police responded to reports of theft at the bakery and conducted a swift search of the area. The suspect was located shortly after at Bell Corner. A 38-year-old man from Tamworth was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting.

During the arrest, an emergency worker was assaulted. The suspect has been further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker and in connection with other offences. He remains in police custody.

Police Statement

On social media, Tamworth Police posted: 'We have arrested a male this morning in relation to shoplifting. We were called today (24th April) to Greggs, Middle Entry, reporting a male for stealing a large number of sandwiches and cakes. After a quick area search the male was located on Bell corner.'

The police also confirmed that the 38-year-old male was further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker and in relation to other offences. He remains in custody at this time.
