Police Hunt Bogus Car Buyer After Stolen Vehicle Used in Crimes

Police are hunting a man who posed as a bogus car buyer and stole a vehicle in Yardley, Birmingham. West Midlands Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to trace in connection with the theft.

The stolen vehicle, a white Volkswagen, had been listed for sale online. A man claiming to be interested in buying the car visited the owner’s home for a test drive on the evening of February 20. While the owner was distracted outside the vehicle, the man drove the car away.

Police said the stolen car was later used in a number of other vehicle crimes in the Coventry, Warwickshire and Leicestershire areas. No arrests have been made yet.
