Police have launched an urgent search for a driver who fled the scene after a collision left two pedestrians injured on a major Birmingham road this morning.
Incident Details and Police Appeal
The collision occurred on Soho Road, near the junction with Whitehall Road in Handsworth, at approximately 11.20am on Monday, 16 December. A car was involved in an incident with two pedestrians.
West Midlands Police confirmed that one pedestrian sustained serious injuries, while the other suffered leg injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.
A police spokeswoman stated: "We are working to locate them. The road is currently closed in both directions and we’d ask motorists to please avoid the area as much as possible."
Road Closures and Travel Disruption
In response to the incident, police have cordoned off a section of the A41 Soho Road between Nineveh Road and Soho Hill. The closure is causing significant disruption to traffic and local bus services.
Transport for West Midlands announced that buses are being diverted. The NX West Midlands 74 service is using alternative routes along Rookery Road, Church Lane, and Hamstead Road until further notice.
West Midlands Roads warned motorists to expect delays, noting there were reports of two separate collisions on the route.

Officers are appealing to the public for assistance with their investigation. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, has dash cam footage from the area around the time, or who may have any other relevant information.
Police have asked anyone who can help to call 101, quoting incident reference number 1819 of 16 December.
