Ryanair has issued a statement after two disruptive passengers were fined over €10,000 by the Toulouse Criminal Court. The incident occurred on flight FR9251 from London Stansted to Ibiza on 17 May 2025, forcing a diversion to Toulouse and affecting 184 passengers and six crew members.
Court Ruling and Penalties
The two passengers were found guilty of being abusive towards fellow travelers and failing to comply with crew instructions. They received suspended sentences of up to 10 months and a combined penalty exceeding €10,000. Ryanair, which operates flights from Birmingham, welcomed the court's decision.
Ryanair's Zero Tolerance Policy
Ryanair stated it is committed to ensuring a comfortable and stress-free environment for all passengers and crew. The airline has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take action to combat unruly behavior.
Ryanair’s Jade Kirwan commented: “We welcome this decision by the Toulouse Criminal Court to convict these two disruptive passengers and sentence them with up to 10 months jail time and to pay a penalty of over €10,000. It is unacceptable that passengers suffer unnecessary disruption and reduced holiday time as a result of unruly passenger behaviour. This conviction demonstrates just one of the many consequences that disruptive passengers will face as part of Ryanair’s zero tolerance policy, and we hope this action will deter further disruptive behaviour on flights.”
The airline emphasized that the vast majority of passengers do not disrupt flights, and this action is taken for their benefit.
