Solihull Council Home Closed After Drug Use and Noise Complaints
Solihull Council Home Closed After Drug Use and Noise

A council property in Solihull has been shut down for three months following reports of drug use and excessive noise during unsociable hours. Solihull Community Housing (SCH), which manages the council's housing services, took legal action against a tenant residing on Blackcat Close in Chelmsley Wood.

The complaints, which began in August 2025, detailed alleged drug use and high noise levels emanating from both the property and communal areas. Birmingham Magistrates Court granted a Closure Order on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, effectively barring the tenant from entering or returning to the premises for a period of three months.

Court Order Details

The order prohibits anyone except those explicitly named—such as employees of Solihull Council, SCH, or emergency services—from remaining in, returning to, or entering the property. Violating the order is a criminal offence, punishable by imprisonment and/or a fine.

In a statement, Solihull Council confirmed: "Solihull Community Housing (SCH) – which runs Solihull Council’s housing service – has been granted a Closure Order on a property in Chelmsley Wood following complaints of persistent anti-social behaviour by a tenant."

Community Impact

The council emphasised that the closure order was necessary to address the persistent anti-social behaviour that had disrupted the local community. Residents had reported ongoing disturbances, including loud noises and suspected drug activity, particularly late at night.

SCH Chief Executive Lee Sugden urged residents to report any further concerns. "If anybody has any concerns of anti-social behaviour, please let us know. You can report it in confidence to the dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Hotline on 0121 717 1500, or to the police," he said.

The closure order is intended to provide respite for neighbours and restore peace to the area. Anyone found breaching the order faces arrest and potential legal consequences.
