Police in Birmingham have dismantled a significant cannabis cultivation operation after discovering a farm spread across three floors of a residential property.
Major Raid in Stockland Green
On the morning of Thursday, December 4, officers from West Midlands Police's Operation Skybridge team, supported by local neighbourhood officers, executed a drugs warrant at an address on St Thomas Road in Stockland Green, Erdington.
The raid was launched following intelligence received in the preceding week indicating the property was being used for illegal drug production.
Scale of the Illegal Operation
Inside, officers uncovered what they described as a 'vast' cannabis farm. The operation was extensive, with 143 cannabis plants found growing across all three floors of the building.
A significant amount of specialist growing equipment was also seized. Investigators confirmed that the electricity supply to the property had been illegally bypassed to power the sophisticated set-up, a common and dangerous tactic used in such illicit grows.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Appeal
No arrests were made at the scene, but a police investigation is now actively working to identify those responsible for establishing and running the farm.
Sergeant Danny Fulford of the Op Skybridge team linked the successful warrant to community intelligence, stating: "Today's warrant came about following our ever-growing relationship with the community."
He emphasised the team's continued focus on tackling serious acquisitive crime across Birmingham. Police remain in the local area and are urging anyone with information about drug crime, burglary, or robbery to make contact.
The force spokesperson reiterated that warrants targeting suspected cannabis production are a regular part of their work across the West Midlands region.
