A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 27-year-old in Birmingham. The family of Adisu Chala has paid tribute to their much-loved son, describing him as kind, respectful, and a valued person whose presence touched many lives.
Adisu Chala was found seriously injured in Mott Street, Birmingham, at around 12:30am on Monday, April 20. He was later confirmed dead at the scene.
An investigation by West Midlands Police’s homicide unit led to the charge of Momodou Johm, 39, from Bristol. Johm was remanded before Birmingham Magistrates Court on April 23.
In a statement, Adisu’s family said: “Adisu was the youngest member of our family, deeply loved and cherished by us all. He was kind, respectful, and a valued person whose presence touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, sense of humour, dedication, and for the way he cared for those around him. To us, he was more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, someone who brought light into the lives of others. His absence leaves a profound void that cannot be filled. No parent, nor any brother or sister, should ever have to bury a loved one so young. We want justice for what happened. No one should ever have to go through such a tragedy, and Adisu did not deserve to lose his life in this way. We sincerely hope that justice will be served. We ask that he be remembered for the person he was and the life he lived, rather than the circumstances of his passing. Our thoughts remain with all who knew and loved him. He will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace.”
Police are continuing to appeal for information. A force spokesperson said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area and has information about what happened to come forward. You can contact us via Live Chat on our website, or call 101, quoting log 103 of 20 April.”
