A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a disturbance in Handsworth, Birmingham. West Midlands Police and paramedics were called to Rookery Road just after 7pm on Wednesday, April 22, where they discovered an injured 50-year-old man.
Arrest made at the scene
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding and criminal damage. He remains in police custody for questioning. The injured man was transported to hospital for treatment.
Police statement
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Rookery Road, Handsworth, just after 7pm to reports of disorder. A man in his 50s was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital. A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding and criminal damage. He remains in custody for questioning."
Ambulance service response
West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called to an incident on Rookery Road in Handsworth at 7.02pm and sent two ambulances to scene. On arrival, crews found a man, who they treated for injuries believed not to be serious before conveying him to hospital."
